Henry George Blagogee is a former member of the PhootPrintz group who brought to us the hit single “Jackie Appiah” which feature Bisa Kdei and Sarkodie. Now gone solo the young HipHop / Afrobeat artiste took the name “Krystal Geesus” and that’s what been keeping him going for sometime now with the release of an EP “EveryBody Love Geesus” titled and also another personal hit titled “Kisses For Breakfast” which featured BET Award winning act StoneBwoy.
Welcome to Ghana where majority of its population are Christians and everything which goes against the Christian faith brings up issues. Jesus Christ is the founding faith and almost all Christians believe in him as the son of the Most High God. With a talent choosing the name Geesus, it becomes a problem to the highly spiritual individual. They can’t relate to the name as it’s pronunciation sounds the same spiritual son of God. Arts is all about creativity and not everyone will understand / appreciate it.
Had a conversation with Krystal Geesus (that’s how I have saved his name on my phone since that’s what I know) concerning a new song I received in his email. The name was FlyBoy and from our conversation what he told me was he had to change the name per advise from certain people who matter. Not that alone but his EP has also been re-named to “FlyBoy From Ghana EP”. That’s a whole new ball game. Starting from scratch to make people accept you again. Never say never but will it be possible or work work. Time will tell. I am still trying to come to terms with the new name cos Krystal Geesus sounded cool to be though. Lemme find some groundnut and chew for now.
